01 — The Bradford Golf Club

Built around golf.
Designed for more.

A membership club built around golf and the people who play it — monthly outings, a real handicap, and product made only for members.

Fifty-two, because that is the number Carl wore at Arizona State. Fifty-two seats and no more — entrepreneurs, athletes and business owners across the Inland Empire, in a room small enough that you know everyone in it.

Monthly outings
Rounds and events at least once a month across the Inland Empire. Show up, play, stay for the food.
The Club Line
Pieces carrying the club crest, made for the 52 and nobody else. Never restocked, never sold to the public.
The room
Entrepreneurs, athletes and business owners. Pairings are made on purpose, so you play with people worth knowing.

$125 reserves your number and covers your Founders Rope Hat and welcome card. Hats ship within 10–12 weeks of the twenty-fourth number being claimed. Dues are $250 a year, or $25 a month if you'd rather spread it, and they begin the month of the first outing at a founding rate that never rises — they also cover a USGA handicap index maintained through the club's Southern California Golf Association charter. If the first 24 numbers aren't claimed, every pre-order is refunded in full and nothing is made.

02 — Applying

Ask for a seat.

The club is fifty-two people, so who is in the room is the whole point. Applying takes a minute and it is not a test — it is how the pairings get made and how the roster stays worth being on.

  1. 1 You apply — seven short questions, about two minutes.
  2. 2 Carl reads it. Usually the same day.
  3. 3 If it's a fit, you get your number and a link to reserve it at $125.
  4. 4 Numbers are assigned in the order applications are approved.

No payment yet. Approved applicants get a link and their number.

03 — Before you apply

Questions, answered.

Do I have to pay for my own golf?

Yes. Dues cover the club — your handicap, the organizing, the prizes, the product access. You pay your own green fee at every outing, at the group rate we’ve negotiated, which is better than you’d get booking alone.

What am I paying $125 for right now?

Your numbered Founders Rope Hat, your welcome card, your member number, and founding status for life. Dues don’t start until the club’s first outing actually happens.

Do I just buy in?

No. You apply, we read it, and if it’s a fit you get a link and your number. It takes about a minute and most people get in — but a room of fifty-two only works if someone is paying attention to who’s in it.

What are you actually looking for?

People who’ll show up. Skill level is irrelevant — that’s what handicaps are for. What matters is that you want to be part of something rather than just buy a hat.

What if you never get to 52?

The hats get made once the first 24 numbers are claimed — that funds the run. If we don’t reach 24, everyone is refunded in full and nothing is produced.

Can I pick my number?

No. Numbers are assigned in the order applications are approved, starting at 002 — 001 stays with the founder. The earlier you’re in, the lower your number, and it’s yours for life.

Who else is in it?

Entrepreneurs, athletes and business owners across the Inland Empire. Members get a directory of the roster and who does what, and pairings at outings are made on purpose rather than drawn out of a hat.

Do I need to be good at golf?

No. That’s what the handicap is for — it’s how a 9 and a 24 play the same competition and both have a chance. Most outings are nine holes on a weekday evening.

When is the first outing?

Within 60 days of the twenty-fourth number being claimed. We are not putting dates on a calendar for a club that has not filled yet — and dues do not start until that first round is played.

How often does the club actually play?

Once a month, plus the club championship and a year-end dinner. Same course, same day of the month, same format, so it’s easy to hold the date.

What if I can’t make most of them?

Nothing happens. You’re not paying for rounds you don’t play. Plenty of members will come for the handicap, the product and three or four outings a year.

Can I bring someone?

One guest per outing, at the same rate, space permitting. If they join, they take the next number.

What’s a GHIN handicap and why do I care?

It’s the official USGA index that lets you enter real competitions and play anyone fairly. SCGA sells it on its own for $60 a year. It’s included here, and it comes with entry to SCGA Team Play against 230+ other clubs.

What is the Club Line?

Pieces carrying the club crest, made in small runs for members only. Never restocked, never sold to the public, and nothing with the crest on it is ever sold outside the club.

Isn’t Bradford Sports selling golf hats anyway?

Yes, and members get 20% off them and see them 48 hours early. Those carry the Bradford Sports mark. The crest is the club’s, and you can’t buy it.

Can I cancel?

Any time, online, from your account. Benefits run to the end of what you’ve paid. Your hat and your number stay yours permanently.

Will the price go up?

Not for founding members. Your rate is locked for as long as you stay current. It opens higher for everyone after the 52.

Where do you play?

Hidden Valley in Norco is the home course — same day every month, so it is easy to hold the date. Bigger events and the club championship move around the Inland Empire.

Read the full member agreement

These are the terms every member agrees to. They are written to be read, not to be got past.

  1. 01

    What the club is

The Bradford Golf Club is a membership club operated by Bradford Sports. It is chartered with the Southern California Golf Association and has no course of its own. Membership provides a handicap, a place at club outings, access to member-only product, a seat in a deliberately small room of entrepreneurs, athletes and business owners, and standing benefits at Bradford Sports. It does not provide golf.

  2. 02

    Joining is by application

Membership is not bought at a checkout. Applicants submit a short application, and the club reviews and approves every member before payment. The club may decline an application without giving a reason. This is not gatekeeping for its own sake — the value of a fifty-two person room is who is in it, and the application is also how outing pairings get made.

  3. 03

    The founding fifty-two

The founding class is capped at fifty-two members. No. 001 is retained by the founder; founding numbers run 002 to 052. Numbers are assigned in the order applications are approved and confirmed by email at the time of purchase. Members do not choose their number. Once the founding class is full, the roster opens at the standing rate and numbers continue from 053.

  4. 04

What the founding pre-order buys, and what funds the hats

The $125 founding pre-order buys the numbered Founders Rope Hat, the founding member welcome card, the member’s number, and founding status. It does not include dues. Production begins once the first twenty-four numbers are claimed, which funds the full run, and hats ship within 10–12 weeks of that twenty-fourth number being claimed. If that window has to move, every member holding a pre-order is told before it passes and may cancel for a full refund. The roster then stays open until all fifty-two are gone. If twenty-four numbers are never claimed, every pre-order is refunded in full and nothing is made. You may also cancel your own pre-order for a full refund at any time before production starts.

  5. 05

    Dues, and when they start

Dues are $250 a year, or $25 a month — paying annually is the cheaper of the two, and it is the rate we’d point you to. Dues begin in the month the club’s first official outing takes place — not at the time of pre-order. That first outing runs within 60 days of the twenty-fourth number being claimed, so no member is ever left wondering when billing starts. Founding members keep the founding rate for as long as their membership remains continuously current; it does not rise. A membership that lapses and is later restarted is charged at the rate then in force.

  6. 06

    What dues include

A USGA handicap index maintained through the club’s SCGA charter; a place at every club outing; entry to club competitions and the club championship; a listing in the member directory; access to the Club Line; 20% off Bradford Sports for founding members, 10% thereafter; and 48 hours’ early access to Bradford Sports releases for founding members, 24 hours thereafter.

  7. 07

    What dues do not include

Green fees, carts, range balls, food, drink, travel, or event entry fees. Members pay their own way at every outing, at the group rate the club has negotiated. Club championship entry is charged separately and covers the course, food and prizes.

  8. 08

    The Club Line

Club Line pieces carry the Bradford Golf Club crest and are sold to current members only. They are produced in limited runs, are not restocked, and are never sold to the public. No product carrying the club crest is ever offered outside the membership. Bradford Sports golf products carrying the Bradford Sports wordmark are sold publicly and are available to members at the member discount.

  9. 09

    The member directory

Every member is listed with their name, number and what they do, visible to members only. A member may ask to be left off it at any time. The directory is for members to find each other; it is not a mailing list, it is never sold or shared outside the club, and using it to solicit the roster is grounds for the club to end a membership.

  10. 10

    Guests

Each member may bring one guest to any monthly outing, subject to space, at the same group rate. Guests do not receive member pricing on product, do not appear in the directory, and do not hold a number. A guest who applies and is approved is assigned the next available number in sequence.

  11. 11

    Outings, pairings and cancellations

Outings are limited by the tee times the club holds and are filled in the order members sign up, with founding members given 48 hours’ priority. Pairings are set by the club, not chosen by members. Putting the right people in a cart together is most of what the membership is for. A member who signs up and does not appear, without cancelling more than 48 hours in advance, is responsible for the green fee the club has committed on their behalf and may be placed at the back of the priority order for the following outing.

  12. 12

    Handicaps and peer review

Members are required to post every eligible round, not only club rounds. The club’s Handicap Chair administers the index under USGA rules, which include peer review. The Handicap Chair may adjust or withhold an index where scores cannot be reasonably verified. Handicap decisions are not a matter of club politics and are not open to vote.

  13. 13

    Conduct

Members represent the club at every outing, including at courses the club wants to return to. Pace of play, course care, and how members treat staff, guests and each other are the whole standard. The club may end a membership for conduct, refunding the unused portion of dues. The hat and the number remain the member’s in every case.

  14. 14

    Cancellation, lapse and refunds

Membership may be cancelled at any time, online, in the same place it was purchased. Dues already paid are not refunded for the remainder of a term, and benefits run to the end of the paid period. Event fees are refundable up to seven days before the event, after which the club has committed the spaces. On lapse, product access, directory listing and early access end immediately; the hat, the welcome card and the number are the member’s permanently.

  15. 15

    Retired numbers

A lapsed member’s number is held for twelve months, during which they may rejoin and keep it. After that the number is retired, not reissued. The roster is a record of who has been in the club, not a list of currently occupied seats.

  16. 16

    Renewal

Annual and monthly memberships renew automatically. Members are notified before each renewal and before any change in price, and may cancel at any time through their account without contacting the club.

  17. 17

    Risk

Golf carries risk of injury from struck balls, swung clubs, carts, weather and terrain. Members and guests take part at their own risk, are responsible for their own insurance and medical costs, and are responsible for damage they cause to a course or to property. A separate waiver is signed once, at or before a member’s first outing.

  18. 18

    Changes

The club may change its benefits, schedule and rules with notice to members. Two things do not change: a founding member’s rate while their membership stays current, and their number.

Bradford Golf Club is operated by Bradford Sports, Norco, California.
